Myrka Guevara reflects on the experiences and skills she gained during this Fellowship!

This summer, I had the pleasure of working with The Body Agency for my practicum. It was an incredible opportunity to contribute to an organization that has reimagined how we approach health equity and women’s health. Over the past several months, my primary focus has been creating social media content and writing blog posts for their podcast, Sex, Body, and Soul. This podcast discusses a range of topics from sexual wellness to existing barriers in today's world.

This fellowship with The Body Agency allowed me to build on the skills I developed during my first year as an MPH student. It gave me the chance to refine my writing, shifting from academic research papers to easy-to-read, engaging blog posts designed for a wide audience. What I enjoyed most about this fellowship was the chance to collaborate with others and create content that not only educates but also empowers individuals. I learned that public health isn’t only about identifying problems but also finding innovative and accessible ways to close the gender gap.

Looking ahead, I know this experience has shaped the way I view communication and advocacy in public health. Whether through blog writing or social media outreach, The Body Agency is finding new ways to meet people where they are and equip communities with knowledge. Being part of this effort has been both inspiring and rewarding, and I am deeply grateful to have contributed to The Body Agency’s mission.
