THRIVE
"If we are serious about ending preventable maternal deaths and improving maternal health in the U.S., then workforce health is not a side agenda; it is THE agenda. A thriving, healthy maternal health workforce cannot be an afterthought. It is the foundation upon which everything else must be built."
-Dr. Amita Vyas, PhD
THRIVE unlocks evidence-based tools for maternal health providers to prevent burnout, build emotional resilience, and deliver culturally responsive mental health support to pregnant and postpartum birthing persons in their care.

Our Approach
THRIVE uses a dual-focus model: we empower providers to prioritize their own well-being, thereby enhancing the quality of care they provide to others. Our program integrates ongoing support via a mobile app and a sustainable network of Well-Being Champions, fostering peer-led learning long after formal training concludes.
Participants build core competencies in mindfulness, trauma-informed care (including ACEs awareness), creative arts, yoga, and collaborative conflict management. To ensure local relevance and long-term sustainability, all training curricula are co-designed in partnership with the participant community.
Our framework is built upon a robust evidence base in MCH workforce development, burnout prevention, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and culturally responsive mental health interventions. THRIVE is fundamentally research-driven; we employ a rigorous mixed-methods evaluation strategy, incorporating pre- and post-intervention surveys, focus groups, and implementation analytics to ensure continuous model refinement and programmatic excellence.
Research and Evaluation
THRIVE is grounded in implementation science and evidence-based behavioral health interventions. The program incorporates rigorous mixed-methods evaluation, including validated measures of burnout, resilience, well-being, implementation outcomes, and participant experience. Evaluation findings continuously inform improvements to the training curriculum, digital platform, and peer support model to ensure THRIVE remains responsive to the evolving needs of the maternal health workforce.
