Myrka Guevara Spring 2026 Fellowship Experience

This spring, I had the opportunity to complete a fellowship with Unity Health Care as a PrEP outreach intern. Interning at Unity Health Care has been one of the most rewarding and eye-opening experiences in my public health journey. Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to work alongside dedicated healthcare providers and prevention program staff who are deeply committed to improving community health and increasing access to care for DC residents. 

One of the most impactful aspects of my experience was supporting the development and distribution of educational and promotional materials. I helped design and update brochures, digital outreach materials, and social media content that focused on health education and prevention initiatives. Through this work, I learned how important clear, accessible communication is in public health. 

My experience at Unity Health Care has solidified my passion for community health and fostering invaluable knowledge, skills, and professional relationships that will continue to shape my future public health career. I am incredibly grateful for the mentorship, guidance, and support I received throughout this experience and for the opportunity to contribute to programs that positively impact the community. This internship has further motivated me to continue working toward initiatives that promote accessible, equitable, and prevention-focused healthcare for all.
