Culminating Experience

Spring 2023 CE Presentations

The CE explained...

Working on their own, or individually as part of a team, and guided by a faculty member, students pick a topic they are passionate about, formulate questions, sort through primary or secondary data, propose a program, and analyze results. Students will present their findings in a written manuscript and oral presentation, typically at the end of their studies before they graduate. Some students also link their practicum experience to their CE.

The Culminating Experience is designed to be student-led and driven by students’ own areas of interests. In many ways, the CE is an exhibition of all the things gained by an education at GW, showcasing marketable and concrete skills to jumpstart your career.

In the past, our stellar students have completed the following projects:

  • How the COVID-19 Pandemic Changed DC WIC Participation
  • Exploration of the Association between Congenital Heart Disease in the Fetus and Maternal Food Access during Pregnancy
  • The Maternal Health Landscape in DC: Gaps, Barriers, and Opportunities
  • Association between Intimate Partner Violence and Types of Modern Contraceptive Methods Used by Women in the Terai Region of Nepal
  • Age Differences in Women’s Barriers and Motivators Towards Daily Walking and Attitudes Towards a Mobile Application and Wearable Step Tracker to Increase Walking: A Web-Based Anonymous Survey
  • Gestational Diabetes and Stress
