Professional Enhancement
What is PE?
As part of your graduation requirements, students are required to complete 8 hours of professional enhancement (PE) from webinars and workshops outside of the classroom. These can be conducted by the Center of Excellence staff, GW School of Public Health, and outside partners in D.C. and nationwide. Students are given many opportunities monthly to engage in various topics.
As one of 13 Centers of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health nationwide, our students can take advantage of professional development events put on by other Centers as well
Past seminars students have enjoyed include:
- Partnering with Community Doulas in Research: Agenda Setting and Program Evaluations
- They, he, she: transgender perinatal mental health with Whit Ryan, Psy.D., CMPC
- The neurobiology of maternal/infant attachment affected by substance use in pregnancy
