I Chose GW Because: I chose GW because it was the best fit for me! Being from DC, I knew it would be the perfect place to deepen my understanding of public health and policy, particularly maternal and child health through the GW MCH Center of Excellence. I was especially excited for the chance to work with DC community partners during my time here because serving DC communities is one of the biggest reasons I'm pursuing my MPH and where I see my future. When I realized I could be at home during this next step in my life, surrounded by the support of my family and friends. I knew GW was the best choice for me.
Bragging Rights: For my undergraduate senior thesis, I completed a research project on Black midwives in the British Caribbean during the 18th and 19th centuries. I had the opportunity to present my work at a university conference and later at our departmental showcase. It was such an enlightening experience, and I hope to present again on other research in the future!
Hobbies/Personal Interests: I love watching a good reality TV show, dancing to soca in my free time, and learning new hairstyles to do with my natural hair. I also recently decided to start reading for fun again and set a personal goal for myself of 50 books this year, it's going well so far!
People Might Be Surprised to Know That: I once met Dan Povenmire, the co-creator of Phineas and Ferb and voice actor for Dr. Doofenshmirtz, on a plane coming back home!
