Center and Title V Fellowships
Center and Title V Fellowships give students the opportunity to gain real world experience tackling current public health issues. Students can use these fellowships, or any other relevant experience, to fulfill their practicum requirement. For the latest information on Practicum guidelines, please refer to the department's list of resources here.
MCH Center of Excellence Practice Fellowship Opportunities
Faculty mentor: Dr. Nitasha Nagaraj, Co-Director for Practice
The GW Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Practice Fellowship is a competitive opportunity to support a few MCH students who are pursuing their Practicum in fulfillment of their Applied Practice Experience requirement for graduation. Students who are pursuing an MCH internship that is not a Practicum may also apply. If selected, students have the opportunity to work with one of the CoE's community partners in a semester-long project to gain relevant experience. Fellowships are typically offered in select semesters, with instructions for how to apply sent out later in the semester prior to the start of the fellowship. Recipients receive a stipend of $2,000-2,500 depending on the position. Scroll down to read more about our students' most recent fellowship experiences in the Summer of 2024.
Title V Internships
The Title V Internship program is a competitive nationwide program supported by the National Maternal and Child Health Workforce Development Center and funded by the MCH Block Grant. Title V refers to the state-federal partnership program that aims to "improve the health and well-being of women (particularly mothers) and children." This opportunity allows MCH students to gain experience working in state Title V agencies under the mentorship of an assigned preceptor. Internships typically occur during the summer. Read more about the program here.
Practicum opportunities are not limited to Title V and CoE Fellowships.
